Additional Carolina Hurricanes Info

Based in in Raleigh, North Carolina the Carolina Hurricanes are members of the Metropolitan Division of the NHL’s Eastern Conference. The team plays all home games at the PNC arena, which can seat more than 18,000. Carolina Hurricanes fans can always get access to great seats through Golden Tickets.

The franchise was formed in 1971 as the New England Whalers. Originally part of the World Hockey Association (WHA), the Whalers joined the NHL in 1979 as part of the NHL–WHA merger, and renamed themselves the Hartford Whalers in the process.

Hartford, Connecticut proved to be too small a market for the Whalers, so in 1997, the team relocated to North Carolina and officially became the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes made national waves for the first time in the 2002 playoffs. They survived a late charge from the Washington Capitals to win the division, but expectations were low entering the first round against the defending Eastern Conference champions, the New Jersey Devils. However, Carolina Hurricanes Ticket Holders watched their team defy expectations and defeat the Devils in 6 games—two of which went into overtime.

Momentum continued to build for the Hurricanes throughout the decade. In 2005, the Carolina Hurricanes a finished the regular season with a 52–22–8 record and 112 points, shattering the previous franchise record of 94 points. It was the first time ever that the franchise had passed the 50-win and 100-point plateaus. The Carolina Hurricanes, reached the pinnacle in 2006, when they won their first Stanley Cup against the Edmonton Oilers.

As the Carolina Hurricanes continue to strive for more victories, Carolina Hurricanes Ticket Holders continue to prove themselves to be the most loyal fans any NHL team by welcoming the team home when returning from away games and hosting massive tailgating parties.
